OMP UTD 1 - 3 Sporting BJD

OMP United’s senior team started brightly, showing moments of crisp passing and composure in midfield against an energetic Sporting BJD side. Despite their promising start, they fell behind to a superbly taken free kick that gave BJD the lead.

Following the opener, BJD maintained pressure and controlled spells of the game. OMP United did manage to carve out opportunities of their own but lacked the decisive final pass in the attacking third to make them count.

In the second half, OMP UTD found a lifeline through Alex O’Hare, who produced a moment of brilliance to score a well-taken individual goal—earning him Man of the Match honours. The momentum seemed to shift briefly, but BJD responded strongly, adding two more goals to put the result beyond doubt.

A competitive and spirited performance from OMP United.

U15 Division 3

OMP put in a strong performance but narrowly lost out to a tidy Dunshaughlin side.

The home team started well and took the lead with a neat finish from a great cross. OMP grew into the game, even after a reshuffle due to injury, and finished the half much more settled and confident.

After the break, it was a much more even contest with chances at both ends. OMP battled hard in midfield and came close to equalising when a goal-bound shot was cleared off the line. There was more drama when a breakaway was stopped by a foul, with only a yellow card shown.

The pressure paid off when OMP drew level through a well-worked move, calmly finished after rounding the keeper. Dunshaughlin responded with two more tidy goals to edge the game.

Despite the result, it was a great effort from the lads, with lots of positives to take forward. Thanks as always to our sponsor Specsavers Navan – the team looked great in the new gear.

Match Report: OMP Black U12 vs Park Celtic – St Match Report: OMP Black U12 vs Park Celtic – St Mary’s Park

OMP Black U12 faced a tough test this morning at St Mary's Park against a well-drilled and highly competitive Park Celtic side.

In a closely contested first half, OMP battled hard but were undone by two quick counterattacks from the visitors. Despite some determined defending and moments of good build-up play, the team struggled to convert their possession into clear chances.

The second half followed a similar pattern. OMP enjoyed periods of sustained pressure and showed great resilience, but just couldn't find the final pass or finish to get on the scoresheet. Park Celtic, to their credit, remained clinical and composed throughout.

Although the result didn't go our way, there were positives to take—standout performances from players like Tommy and Alex gave us something to build on.

A frustrating day, but lessons learned and heads held high. Onwards and upwards.
U12 White Triumph in 7-Goal Thriller Against Albio U12 White Triumph in 7-Goal Thriller Against Albion Rovers

St. Mary’s Park was the stage for a lunchtime classic as our U12 White team battled Albion Rovers in a thrilling encounter, eventually coming out on top with a dramatic 4-3 win.

The game started at a blistering pace, with both sides playing some excellent football. OMP took the lead after 10 minutes when Kai played a clever ball through to Niall, who whipped in a perfect cross for Leo to finish brilliantly and put the hosts ahead.

Just before the break, Albion responded with a well-taken goal to make it 1-1 going into halftime.

After the restart, OMP pushed forward in search of a second, and it came in spectacular style. David, full of energy throughout, scored a stunning volley from inside his own half to restore the lead — an incredible moment that brought the crowd to their feet.

The home side continued to press, with the Albion keeper making several important saves. Eventually, the pressure paid off when Dara delivered a pinpoint corner that Leo met with a precise header into the bottom corner for his second of the game, making it 3-1 with 15 minutes left.

But Albion showed their fighting spirit, clawing back two quick goals to level the score at 3-3 as the game approached its conclusion.

Just when it looked like the points would be shared, James broke through the middle and fired a low shot into the bottom corner with the final kick of the game — sealing a memorable 4-3 victory and sparking wild celebrations from the OMP players and supporters.

A fantastic team effort and a well-earned win that keeps OMP top of the league. Well done, lads, and best of luck to Albion Rovers for the rest of the season! 👏👏👏

Where It All Began: The Name "OMP United"🔴 ⚫ Where It All Began: The Name "OMP United"🔴 ⚫

Some clubs are named in a boardroom. OMP United was named at a petrol station on Flower Hill!

Back in 1981, when asked to register a team name on the spot, John O’Sullivan gave a simple answer: "OMP United."

It stood for Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Park, a lighthearted nod to the band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. It was never meant to be more than a bit of fun. But the name stuck.

And over time, it came to mean something real.

OMP United became more than a team, it became a place.⚽
A place where people found belonging, where football built friendships, and where stories have been passed down from generation to generation.

Whether you played in the early days or just joined last season, you’re part of this story too.

We’d love to hear your OMP memories! Share them in the comments or tag us in your own post. Old stories, new stories, quiet moments or great wins. This club was built on them all.🏆

The standout performance for OMP came from Sean O’Connell, who was named Man of the Match for his tireless work and determination throughout the game.

Kevin Jasinski provided a moment of quality, netting a well-taken goal.

Plenty to learn and regroup from as the team looks ahead to the next fixture.

🏆 U15 Peter McManus Cup – Round of 16
📍 Mullingar FC
⚽ Final Score: Mullingar FC 0–3 OMP United

Another early start and long journey for the lads, but they delivered a top-class performance from start to finish.

OMP United took control early, with Joe, Rean, and Shane setting the tempo in midfield. At the back, Ryan, Andrew, Noah, and Harry formed a solid defensive unit, limiting Mullingar's chances throughout the game.

Up front, Oliwier and Aaron were a constant threat, and it was Aaron who made the breakthrough before halftime, slotting home to give us a 1-0 lead at the break.

The second half saw Joe Kearney step up with two clinical finishes to seal the win and send us through to the next round. Contributions from Tom, Alex, and David off the bench were vital in maintaining our momentum and control.

A special mention goes to Ryan McGoona, who stepped into the centre-back role and was outstanding—earning him a well-deserved Man of the Match award.

👏 Congratulations to the entire squad for a disciplined and dynamic display. Best of luck to Mullingar FC for the rest of the season!
Under-15 Division 3: Walshestown 2-6 OMP Blue On Under-15 Division 3: Walshestown 2-6 OMP Blue

On a blustery morning in Walshestown, OMP Blue were eager to turn their recent improved performances into valuable league points against their Louth hosts.

The game got off to a shaky start, with the lads conceding early from a poorly defended corner in the opening five minutes. A lack of communication allowed the ball to drop in the box, and Walshestown capitalised to take the lead.

However, the early setback sparked a response. With Danny and Conor Mulchrone finding space up front, OMP began to create chances. Their efforts paid off when a short kick-out led to intense pressure from Conor and Jake, forcing a mistake in the Walshestown defence. Jake pounced and slotted the ball neatly into the bottom corner to level the game.

With momentum building, OMP pushed forward. Conor Mulchrone broke in behind the defence and calmly finished to make it 2-1. Before the break, Ryan made a crucial save in goal to preserve the lead, diving brilliantly to deny a Walshestown equaliser.

Early in the second half, a slip in the OMP defence allowed Walshestown in behind, resulting in a penalty which they converted to level the match at 2-2. Undeterred, the lads rose to the challenge and began to dominate.

Their relentless pressure paid off as Eamon struck twice, including a superb long-range effort from outside the box. Conor Mulchrone completed his hat-trick with two more well-taken goals, capping off a fantastic individual and team display.

It was a performance full of grit, determination, and hard work from every player. Standout performers on the day were Conor Mulchrone and Alexsander.

A special thanks goes to Specsavers Navan for their generous sponsorship of the team’s new training gear. The lads love it, and we are incredibly grateful for the support!

OMP U14 Premier faced local rivals Johnstown in th OMP U14 Premier faced local rivals Johnstown in the last 16 of the Niall Byrne Cup at the MDL Grounds, in what proved to be a dramatic and hard-fought derby clash.

The game got off to a difficult start for OMP, who struggled to find their rhythm early on. Johnstown capitalized with direct balls over the top, putting the OMP defence under immediate pressure. Just ten minutes in, OMP were reduced to 10 men when their goalkeeper rushed out to clear a long ball but collided with the oncoming attacker. As the last man, the referee had no choice but to show a red card.

Shortly after the dismissal, Johnstown broke the deadlock and took a 1-0 lead. Despite the setback, OMP reorganized and gradually grew into the game. The turning point came with the introduction of David Ionel, whose direct running and attacking intent transformed the match.

David leveled the score with a well-taken goal before turning provider, setting up Ceilum for OMP’s second and third. Danny Holland added a fourth, and David rounded off a superb individual performance by netting his second of the day.

David Ionel was deservedly named Man of the Match for his game-changing contribution.

While not OMP’s finest performance, their resilience and quality in the final third ensured progression to the quarter-finals of the Niall Byrne Cup.

A big thank you to LSS Solutions for their generous sponsorship of our new training and coaches' gear. Your support is greatly appreciated and makes a real difference to our team.
